Castlevania: Curse of Darkness My friend brought this over to my house and I thought awesome another Castlevania not another challenge, but when i played it I thought again. Unlike other Castlevania games this gives more of a system rpg like the castlevania we all know and love “Symphony of the Night”. The gameplay was absolutley fantastic and went great with the storyline. Curse of Darkness also went on with a great variety of places that you can go to instead of just staying confound in one castle. Curse of Darkness went beyond with its weapons and mass selection of swords maces even the whips that we can keep some originality in. The weapons also went beyond expectations instead of keeping your them stoed up in your inventory you actually can use your old weapons accquired with items you obtain to create a vast amount of stronger weapons. The weapons werent the only thing worth buying for the music is just to die for. The music provides an old time symphony like Bach but actually fuses it with a type of modern rock with it. I would truley recommend this game to any fan of the series. Also i wont tell you who the end boss is :]

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 This is a great game for the PSP, if you like the SOCOM’s then this Story mode is a little short but they make up for it with an unbelievable amount of guns and costumes for multiplayer. Makes me wonder why Slant 6, now the makers of SOCOM, why couldn’t have added these guns to their PS3 version “Confrontation”. How is a PSP game gonna have more gun options than a PS3 game? Anyways…

Either way the main problem with this game, and should be for everyone who enjoys playing games on Sony’s platforms, is that Sony launched this new plan to stop piracy by adding an activation code to the game so that way you need to activate your game to play online. The activation code can only be used on one system, new activation codes are going to cost 20$! This idea is to stop “pirates” from “stealing” the game. The problem being is that this is a scam on all those who enjoy sharing your games with friends, buying used, and trading in games.

For all the support that gaming stores give Sony it seems like all they are interested in is running a monopoly on their games. With the PSP Go you download the games so there is really no reason to even go to the game store. And now with this activation code it seems like they are trying to drive a dagger right in their heart. Whats the point of buying a used game if you have to turn around and pay [...]$ for some stupid activation code to play online. Im sure that there are more innocent gamers being affected by this tyranny than there are “pirates” stealing games.

Imagine if other companies in the world did this. What if you went to buy a used car and payed ,000 for it. Then as soon as you go to start it up and drive off they tell you that you now need to pay another ,000 to “activate” it. This idea is bologna and if any other companies tried to do this people would have a fit and boycott them.

Call Sony and complain… this was supposably a test run for this game to see how the plan went. Hopefully Sony Computer Entertainment isn’t so out of touch with the gaming community to realize this is a horrible idea, and so is charging for online play… which i heard might be their next move.

Playstation 2 Black Console Slim With everyone switching to the PS3, Xbox-360 and the Wii etc. I’ve decided to stick with what I know and something that doesn’t break my wallet. With thousands of titles to choose from you can’t go wrong with the slim PS2. It certainly beats the hideous older models. Much more compact and is actually quite durable. I don’t know how many times I’ve dropped and stepped on the slimmer version but to my amazement it hasn’t broken.

So why only four stars? Because out of the thousand or so titles only about a quarter of those are decent games. Most games were rushed movie to video games or crappy sequels. But great Stealth & Action games made up for it. It certainly makes you look back on the PS1 and wonder how we possibly enjoyed those terrible graphics.

PS3 Dual Shock3 wireless controller – White This is a nice little controller. I was on target when I thought they released the DualShock 3, Sony’s next gen gamer’s Excalibur. Same awesome design that fits oh so perfectly in my hand, same game enhancing vibration function as the DS2, and now with the sixaxis control feature & it’s wireless! What more do I need to say about it? Sure there are other after market controllers out there for less money, but why? Who didn’t cringe a bit when Sony unveiled the unsightly, boomerang controller with the PS3, oh so many years ago? So when it was revealed that the controller was going to be the same shape & function as the DualShock 2, I let out a huge sigh of relief. But my relief was tempered by the announcement that there was to be no ’shock’ in the new wireless controller. “Oh well,” I thought, “At least it still ‘looks’ like the dual shock.” But then I heard that the reason for no ’shock’ was that it wasn’t compatible with the sixaxis feature. Now I’m no electronics engineer, but I know enough to know that there are ways to counter such incompatibilities.

Sony DVP-NS710H/B 1080p Upscaling DVD Player, Black I was a little surprised in the way it was delivered, no outer box with cushioning, as if I had bought it off the shelf from a stick and brick. So with trepidation I opened it and was relieved that the DVD player was undamaged. It has a sleek minimalist look to it and complements my other Sony products. It is a single player, which suits my needs quite adequately. It plugged in very easily to my Sony amplifier and then came the task of programming it. Make sure you read the directions, it can be a little tricky, wound up with the wrong language-French. I unplugged it and plugged it back in when I couldn’t figure out how to redo the language, read the directions as I went and wellah! Yea! it works! I find the picture quality excellent-regular TV-haven’t graduated to the HDTV yet, the sound is good, clicker easy to use. My entire surround sound system, amp, TV and DVD player are all Sony so it is easy to integrate and they all match in style. I watch alot of movies, recently watched Avatar and though it was a 2D version it read really great, with an almost 3D feel-but that could be technology of the film itself…Movies and regular TV have good picture quality. It plays my CD’s very nicely too. I would recommend this product for ease of use and minimalist sleek design.

High Speed HDMI Cable I ended up buying this Sony brand HDMI cable. It says “Category 2″ and I don’t know if the amazonbasics UltraHighSpeed cable is a “Category 2″ cable. The Sony brand cable is thin and seems flexible tough I don’t know what kind of shield, if ever, does it has.
All this jargon and terms most of the times are pure nonsense. What was my reasoning buying this more expensive cable? I thought, well, it’s Sony who is making the cable. Sony wouldn’t want to make a bad or cheap cable to connect their PS3 because that would make a bad impression on the image quality of the PS3. If I was Sony I would like to be assured that my equipments be shown in the best way possible so what favor could I be doing myself selling a cable that wouldn’t take the PS3 to its limit or that could accept interferences and degradation of the image? Anyway… I feel somehow bad and sad for spending of the money I should have spend for a cable but at least a cable is one thing you buy every 3-5 or even 10 years so anyway.

Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade This is a fairly pedestrian top down hack and slash game. It is also one of the first releases for the PSP. The colorful and clear graphics spotlight the strength of the psp. Though the game was your basic get a quest, go to a dungeon and find what you need and return to the person who sent you. I never got bored with it. There are a fair number of monsters and bosses to keep things interesting. I did like that you had the power to return to your home city at any time which makes it a lot easier than backtracking through a dungeon. I also like the teleports that you find as you explore, which makes getting to the far out places a lot easier the second time you need to reach them. The story is good though it has been done many times before. My problem with the game came as I got to the higher levels. The monsters were no longer a challenge, nor was the final battle with the shadow god. A few healing potions and a bunch of hacking and it was over. The ending is also kind of strange. After the shadow god battle you are shown an epilogue for a few minutes and then the game resumes. There are about 7 more missions you are given and when you complete them nothing happens. You are not given more quests, but the game does not end. I had to check with others online to make sure that I was not doing something wrong, but I was assured that is how the game ends. Still overall it was a fun game and gave me plenty of hours of entertainment.
