Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15.1 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3-Inch LCD (Body Only) Well, where do I begin. I have owned this camera for the past 8 months and have just realized I never made a review for it. This is of course my first dslr. My first impressions about the camera weren’t that great because at the time I still did not know fully how to use a dslr so i was doing everything in automatic mode which I know now is a big no-no most of the time. But shortly after I did teach myself how to do everything in full manual mode and I have to say the pictures come out very clear and sharp and will only have a lot of noise if I shoot in low light with a very high ISO like 12800 but most photographers should already know that’s whats gonna happen plus I was only shooting that high of an ISO because I like to experiment with different settings and push the limitations. But the camera honestly works great, I have no issues with it and I feel like I am insulting it because all I can afford are cheap lenses (I own of the 18-55mm kit lens, the canon ef 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III, and a tamron 28-80mm lens and I am about to buy the canon 50mm f/1.8). The video mode could be better, but that is not what I bought this camera for, my family got this for me as a birthday/christmas/graduation gift since it was so expensive and also more within our price range. This is a great camera with a lot of great features which I dont need to get into since its all in the description I’m just posting my thoughts as a consumer about this product and I do recommend this camera for anybody wanting to get their first dslr, anyone wanting to buy a new one that wants an upgrade, or anybody even looking for just a backup body.

Canon EOS 7D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3-inch LCD and 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Standard Zoom Lens I have been shooting for a couple of years with the Rebel XSI. I purchased some nice lenses (50mm 1.4, 70-200 L IS 2.8) and was getting good results, but sometimes missed on great shots because of poor focus. I was saving up for the Canon 5d Mk2 when this camera came out. I went to the local camera shop and tried it side by side with the 5d Mk 2 with my own lenses and was sold on it immediately. The speed and accuracy of focus combined with the high frame rate were great, but more than that, the camera just was so responsive in every aspect. I would compare it to driving a sports car after driving the family minivan. All DSLRs are quick, but this camera was amazingly fast with low light, high ISO situations, locking on focus and taking the picture noticeably faster than the 5d.

The one major concern I had was image quality. There were some negative reviews online, and I know the full frame cameras are the best at high ISO, low-light situations. After shooting more than 3,000 photos and 2 dozen videos over two months, however, I can tell you the image quality is spectacular for both photos and HD video. Not every photo is a masterpiece, but the “hit” rate of perfect focus and exposure is easily 3-4 times as high as for the Rebel XSI. The only trouble is, with the high frame rate, sorting through all of the photos to decide which one captures the moment the best. Considering this camera is almost 00 less than the Canon 5d Mk 2, it is hard to imagine better performance.

There are two negative to consider, mainly for the high-end consumer. First, the camera is significantly heavier than the entry level Rebel. Second, there are no “Scene” modes, like portrait or sports. This camera is more advanced and you need to have a pretty good idea of how to change aperture, shutter speed, and ISO to get good pictures. If you leave your current camera on the auto setting or scene settings most of the time, or you are trying to upgrade from a point-and-shoot to a DSLR, you will not be able to utilize this camera to its full potential without a significant amount of time invested in learning about photography.

One final tip – I was able to record video and high frame rate photos using a 133x compact flash card without any problems.

But I’m very pleased in the quality of the packaging and cartridges. I’ve read reviews for other non-OEM cartridges that complain about leaks, failure of the printer to recognize the chip, having to switch chips manually, etc. NONE of that applies to these.

Packaging was clean and very much like OEM. I had no trouble with leaking, and the printer never blinked. Print quality seems reassuringly high. I’ll be buying again.

Canon CLI-8PC Photo Cyan Ink Tank I really like the Canon Printer Cartridges as you only replace only what you use. A previous inkjet printer forced me to throw away cartridges due to running out of one color in a multicolor cartridge.

Never had a mess problem, although like any ink jet cartridge, they tend to be expensive if using for high volume printing.

Reliable, with ease of replacement, and never had a cartridge turn out to clog or give uneven print quality.

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Standard Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras After saving up for a year, I finally was able to purchase my first L Series Lens. I have been using Canon SLR’s since 2004 (starting with the original Rebel, and then jumping to my current XSi), and this is by far the biggest upgrade/purchase I have made for my camera.

A few notes and recomendations:

Positives:
Pictures are bright and crisp
This is a FAST lens
Quality of build is solid to the touch, and solid movement (zoom)
The WOW factor is really cool (many other photographers and ameteurs compliment my setup)

Drawbacks
No IS (not really needed, but for the price it should be there)
when using a flash…get an external one. The onboard flash does not sit high enough and you get shadows from the lens
heavy as an everyday lens (I got over this, but may be a draw back for some)

Recomendations
Rent this or any other L Series lens before buying. i went to Hawaii with this lens and the 70-200 IS 2.8 lens. I rented them both for 21 days, for under three hundred bucks. When I got back, I purchased this lens. It is a great way to try then buy. Look for sites that will rent out these lens’…try a search on lens rentals.

Overall very happy with my purchase. Have taken vacation shots of the kids, landscapes, architecture etc….all with excellent results. This is my new everyday lens.

If you have a 5-tank printer, chances are the CLI-8PC and CLI-8PM aren’t compatible with your printer!

I stint on ink and print my documents almost exclusive in grayscale at the DRAFT quality mode (my Canon IP4200 printer uses the CLI-8 color cartridges even though I don’t print in color). I can get about a full ream’s worth of paper (double-sided) on 1 cartridge. However, with higher quality printer, the color ink cartridges get consumed much more quickly.

It is evident from the reviews that the price of ink is a major concern for most people. You should ideally use only genuine Canon ink cartridges but if you’re strapped for cash, you can purchase the cheaper generic versions (non-OEM) of the CLI-8 cartridges.
