*The lid screws on tight and spill proof, but there is a half-moon-type of opening on top that you’re supposed to drink out of. The only way to ‘close’ it is with the flat piece of plastic that twists over the opening or to the side so you can drink. If the mug is full and you turn it upside down or on its side… yes, it will leak. If you have it full and twist the cover shut while you drive or go out to your car, you’re not going to have spilling issues. There is a 1/2″ lip that goes all the way around the top to keep your liquid from going over the side and spilling.
